Eating Disorders Introduction: I. Anorexia and bulimia nervosa A. Over 90% Americans have been afflicted in some type of eating disorders. An estimated 56% females and 43% males. Eating disorders mostly effect adolescents and young women , the goal is to achieve the “ideal” figure. 1. Eating disorders are caused by three main areas, They are personality factors, genetics , the enviroment, and biochemistry. The eating disorders regularly start with low self-esteem, feelings of helplessness, and a fear of becomming fat. 2. There are severe consequences of eating disorders.These consequences are so severe it almost makes me sad to talk about it. One in ten cases of eating disorders leads to death. These deaths are caused by starvation, cardiac arrest, other medical conditons or even suicide. B. Anorexia Nervosa 1. Anorexia is one of the most common eating disorders.Altough the real term means “loss of appetite” the actual loss of appetite is rearly common. Criteria for Anorexia 2. This eating disorder is most commonly a refusal to maintain body weight at or above weight for age and height. Which can lead to a loss of 15% or more of original body weight. A eating, weight, loss, disorders, body, patient, food, fear, disorder, starvation, severe, one, diet, death, common, caused, appetite, anorexia, young, women, withdrawn, weightis, weight, behavioral, watching, victims, under, uasally, type, tone, three, thinning, patients, ten, cases, temp, talk, swings, suicide, anorexia, step, status, start, specialist, skin, situations, where, simple, signs, shifts, perfectionistics
