The South China Tiger The South China tiger is located in central parts of China, that is if it is ever located. Unfortunately, this tiger is the rarest of the five living tiger subspecies. It is the most threatened and the closest to extinction. The estimated population of the South China tiger is a mere 2-3 dozen, and that's an optimistic estimation. Chinese officials haven't even seen a wild tiger in twenty years., the estimations we do have are formed around sightings from civilians in China. The majority of these tigers are surviving in captivity. They are spread between 19 zoos in China. We do not have any here in America. Though it is educational and may even help prolong the extinction of this animal, it has it's disadvantages. When these tigers are kept captive it can decrease their sex drive, making the chances of reproduction even fewer.
