The American Pit Bull Terrier Pit Bull p.1 The American Pit Bull Terrier is a very popular and misunderstood breed of dog. In fact there are a few other breeds that get misidentified by people as American Pit Bull Terriers. These other breeds include The Staffordshire Bull Terrier, The American Staffordshire Terrier and the American Bulldog. While all of the above dogs share many common traits, each is a different breed of dog. In the dog world The American Pit Bull Terrier and The American Staffordshire Terrier are very closely related and it takes a trained eye to tell the two apart. The term “Pit Bull” is used by many people to identify the above group of dogs as well. In reality there is no “Pit Bull” breed, but for the purposes of this paper I will use the Term “Pit Bull” when talking about either The American Pit Bull Terrier and/or The American Staffordshire Terrier. The term “Pit Bull” does not mean the same to everyone. To the average person, a pit bull is a vicious, biting dog.
