Perfect Hand The Perfect Hand Anyone who has ever gambled knows that the house (casino) is established to make money. But once in a while there is the possibility that the house loses and the player walks away with more money than they brought. This is point that Danny Ocean (George Clooney) tries to make to his friend Rusty (Brad Pitt), in the remake of the Rat-Pack classic Ocean’s Eleven. The theme of the movie is revealed early on when Rusty wants to know why Danny wants to rob the vault of the most prestigious casino is Las Vegas. Danny responds, “Because the house always wins. If you play long enough and you never change the stakes, the house takes you. But when that perfect hand comes along, and you bet big, you take the house.” This statement is the theme of the film as a whole but there are several other small themes throughout the picture. Ocean’s Eleven opens with a man we shortly find out is Danny Ocean in prison at his parole hearing.
