Frederick Douglas Author’s Point of View: The author’s point of view in this movie about Frederick Douglas is one that is clearly prejudice. Through out the video facts are shown to support the fact that blacks were not treated as human beings. Slavery was the worst crime in the history of man and not enough was done in this movie to show how bad slavery truly was. This movie did present an accurate picture of the beatings, hardships, and obstacles that a 19th Century slave had to endure. The author viewed Frederick Douglas not only as a literary genius, but an underrated one due to the color of his skin. Frederick Douglas was a great motivational speaker and skilled writer. His talents are unheard in the slave race, which was full of illiterate, uneducated blacks. If Frederick Douglas had been white, he might have easily become president due to his numerous talents. Frederick Douglas was a stubborn, hard-nosed slave, yet he is arguably the best self-educated person in history. Douglas’s ability to teach himself how to read and speak was astonishing.
