Mideval War Horse The Medieval War Horse The warhorse of medieval Europe is a unique animal that was born out of a need for horses larger, stronger, and faster. It took generations upon generations of breeding to produce a horse that could meet the needs of the knight of the latter middle ages. It had to carry men in armor, wear armor, and be a weapon. These horses had humble beginnings in Asia and ended in the beautiful horse breeds that are present today. They have a history as unique as the men they carried; they were at the top of the known world only to be beaten by the invention of gunpowder and the rise of new methods of fighting brought in by foreign horsemen. The earliest horses of Europe were quite small, rugged, and wild like the modern day Mongolian Horse. The first sign of a domesticated horse came from Asian steppes 3000-4000 B.C. and were mainly used for meat and milk until man became more nomadic then the horses were used for pulling carts, moving camps, and moving people. This is the horse that the Chinese tried to get away from.
