The Real Deal- Homeless The Real Deal In my experience with the homeless, I have discovered that many of them have great lessons to teach. I have had the privilege to spend time with those who are less fortunate than I am, and I have had a number of opportunities to talk and hang out with them as friends. Almost all of the homeless I have met have proclaimed their belief in Christ. Last year on Thanksgiving Day, I was able meet with a homeless friend nicknamed Green Eye, his black, sun-baked skin was a result of the untamed Texas summers. Green Eye was recognized most by his one brown eye and the other very noticeably green eye, which happened to usually be bloodshot and his breath smelling of cheap beer. I could usually find Green Eye behind a gas station in the slums of south Dallas, with the gas station worker behind the barred glass. On this particular visit to the gas station, I found Green Eye to be very talkative and friendly. He told me about the time he had spent in prison, and how he read the Bible all the way through.
