Despite these good endeavors, nobody care about the discrimination towards gypsies because of their ethnicity. I think, the only reason for this problem is; there is such a inherited hatred in people mind because this problem is retrospective. The reasons for this discrimination are not difficult to identify. Firstly the discrimination begins with the refence boks such as famous encyclopedias and dictionaries. Because the definitions of word “ Gypsy ” is quite absurd. For example the 1911 edition of the Encyclopedia Britannica describes gypsies as “ gaudy, ostentatious, boastful,arroant and superstioious.” and in its 1958 edition tells that “ Gypsies have the mental image of a child of ten that they have never accomplished anything.” In addition to this source “The Oxford English Dictionary” described Gypsy as “a cunning rogue,deceitful and fickle”. According to these definitions, nobody can have a positive attitude towards gypsies.
