Science Summary SUMMARY The article is about how the wolves were once extinct for more than 50 years. So now today the Sierra Club members chose the Blue Range Primitive Area because of the earlier information they gathered to make the case for giving the area permanent protection. That means restricted roads, logging, and no motorized vehicles in the mountain lion’s habitat. The Sierra Club members want to have more wolves in the community so they can have a variation in the population. The Blue Range was perfect for the release of the wolves because of its wide diversity of prey. The Blue range consists of 16,000 elk and 57,000 deer, as well as innumerable rabbits, hares and javelina. Also it is one of North America’s most diverse ecosystems.
