Environmental Themes Environmental Themes There are many different views around the world concerning the environment. Many different cultures interpret the environment in many ways. The Japanese culture and the American culture had portrayed their environmental views through the movies, Princess Monoke and The Lorax. Both movies had shared common views and had involved different morals that applied to mankind. They also had different interpretations of the environment in which made the two movies different. The movie Princess Monoke consisted of a number of important characters. Two of the main characters were in fact Princess Monoke and Ashitaka. Princess Monoke was the daughter of the Wolf god. She had represented the humans that really care for the environment. The Wolf god, Maro, was one of the protectors of the forest. She had helped look after it. Ashitaka was a prince of another village who was attacked by a demon god. He was in fact a character that represented a person who later realizes what is being done to the environment. He, in a way, is portrayed as the peacemaker.
