How Lying Makes A Difference How Lying Makes a Difference When we take up lying, as a way of life contact is lost between our own lives and ourselves. The lie, which is usually intended to make a difference and make life much easier, causes us to lose touch with the increasing complexity known as truth. “There is no ‘the truth,’- truth is not one thing, or even a system. By refusing that honesty is necessary, we end up lying to ourselves and lose grasp of the importance or everyday life and inevitably lose faith in our own lives. Confronting the truth is one of the hardest things for a person to do. In order to be able to do this, one must realize what truth actually means and what consequences it carries with it. That is not always the easiest thing to. That is why it is so much easier to tell a lie. Life is made simpler when we say and tell others what we think they want to hear verses’ admitting what we know is right. Adrienne Rich addresses this very well.
