Foundation Of Success Education is the foundation of success. In all past and ancient societies the learned were the leaders, those who took initiative to seek knowledge. In order to effectively gain knowledge students had to be self-disciplined. In today’s society there is a slightly different twist. All children are required to receive a foundational education through a national school system. However, not ALL these students have the desire for learning or gaining the knowledge that will hold them to a higher standard. Therefore, a whole new system of discipline takes effect, not self-discipline, but supervised and enforced discipline. My question and topic for this paper is, can the teacher implement or inspire an attitude in which the student sees school as an atmosphere to seek knowledge and less as a prison of constant disciplines' The goal of the classroom today should be to provide an atmosphere based and focused on teaching students how to becoming a self-motivated learners and therefore self-disciplined students. The first classroom I would like to discuss, as an observational study, is a sixth grade English classroom. The teacher was obviously very strict. She required that all students respect her and her classroom time. She was very stern and classroom, teacher, students, learning, atmosphere, out, think, relaxed, very, time, discipline, work, system, should, required, provide, knowledge, genuine, day, certain, teaching, teachers, student, same, certainly, therefore, take, special, second, school, punishments, provided, problems, observed, nervous, motivation
