Personal Philosphy Developmental Personal Philosophy (DPP) Part B My philosophy on teaching centers on the belief that all children can learn and want to learn. I believe that all students hold the key deep inside themselves and it is up to the teacher to find the key and then use it to unlock their minds. Teaching as a profession is by its very nature challenging and rewarding. This could not be truer than in teaching diverse learners and students with special needs. These diverse learners have the same goals and aspirations as other students and my philosophy for teaching is that each child should have an individualized plan for success. The teaching should be tailored to help each child learn in the best mode that child knows how. I believe the teacher's role is to guide, facilitate, and motivate the child to participate in experiences that will promote life-long learning. The teacher should be optimistic and set attainable goals that provide daily successes for each child. I believe we accomplish this through building on the prior knowledge of each child and through providing a positive classroom environment that is safe, caring, comfortable, and supportive.
