Jackson didn’t believe it to be democratic to allow only the rich minority of people to have more weight in government related issues than the common man. He said that all people must be seen as equals under the law. The Bank of the United States did not equalize the American people; it made the rich richer and the poor poorer. Jackson decided to withdraw the federal deposits for the BUS and spread the funds to smaller state banks. This gave the states more power and enforced his principle of democracy.
