Economics Of Gender
1. Marriage, from an economic perspective can benefit both parties involved. Statistically, 90% of adults are married at some point during their lives. With that said, it can be assumed that people think of marriage as being beneficial to their economic outlook on life. When people get married this changes family structure, and when that happens there is a dominate change in the labor market, especially income dynamics. Since marriage involves choice aimed at improving well-being, then it can be assumed that peoples perception of improved well-being is a better financial future.
Getting married means having a family, and having a family means making choices. In everyday life families make choices about production and allocation of resources, investments, consumption and savings, and leisure activities. All of these help in the benefits of marriage, because most, if not all of these choices require at least both parties to make decisions. In doing so, both parties help in the decision process on what will be beneficial the most. By this I mean what decision about a choice or choices will benefit both parties. The choice or choices made would hopefully maximize goals.
