Racial hatred and hatred are becoming a major social problem in the United States

Racial hatred and hatred are becoming a major social problem in the United States. In recent years, American society has become increasingly polarized on racial issues. Openness has been replaced by hatred. When racial tolerance no longer seems relevant, the population has split and gone to extremes. This paper will define and analyze the problem of racial hatred in the United States, and put forward some suggestions to narrow the problem. Cultivating empathy at different social levels will be an effective way to achieve social and ethnic integration.

Racial hatred in this paper refers to the hostility of black and white Americans to each other. Although American society is composed of a wider range of racial groups, the problem between black and white Americans has always been the most prominent. In the civilized society of the 21st century, some people oppose the seriousness of this problem and even regard quality as a problem. Some people also use the fact that Barack Obama, the first black president of the United States, to prove that American society has transcended racial issues (Austin 12). However, the fact is that the United States is not post racism at all. Even during Obama's administration, some people disliked him because of his skin color. They even formed an "Obama hater" group to constantly attack his policies (Austin 17). Today, there is still a deep gap between black and white Americans, especially in areas far away from urban centers and developed areas.

Racial hatred is a problem. In recent years, there have been more and more demonstrations against black abuse (Baker 23). One of the main reasons why racial hatred is difficult to solve is that this problem is deeply rooted in American history. Most of the ancestors of black Americans were kidnapped from their hometown in Africa and sold to North America as slaves. It is not an ancient history that black Americans only obtain the rights of American citizens after the promulgation of the liberation and civil rights act. Therefore, there is black resentment against white people, and there is also "white guilt". However, although the guilt of whites in American society has been decreasing for many years, blacks still feel a great degree of oppression, especially after several cases of police violence against blacks. In response to police violence and the unnecessary killing of some black Americans by the police, a campaign called "black life incident" (BLM) was launched and quickly spread all over the country (Baker 23). Although the BLM began to protest against police violence, it soon became an outlet of racial hatred and a political tool. At the same time, Donald Trump's election as the current president shows that another force is becoming more and more dominant in American Society: white priority supporters (scheper Hughes 449). BLM activists and trump supporters are the two main forces of racial hatred in the United States, which makes the problem more complex and important.

Two aspects of the newly established racial hatred have been strengthened by a number of factors, further increasing the difficulty of solving the problem. Many white Americans and trump supporters have felt politically marginalized for years. In American society, the welfare of farmers and the middle class has been greatly squeezed, and life at the top and bottom of society is much easier (scheper Hughes 452). Their resentments are ignored by mainstream politicians and the media, or at least not adequately addressed (Austin 15). This helps to accumulate dissatisfaction with the Obama administration. Because Obama himself is black, negative emotions have also been redirected to the black race. At the same time, the degree of ethnic integration has also declined over the years, which can be reflected in the ethnic diversity of schools. For example, at Boston Latin School, the proportion of black students fell from 21.8% to 8.6% in 10 years (Kenworthy). A trend of "re segregation" has been observed in schools, especially those from the southern United States, where students of different races seem to be separated from each other again. This trend is creating more obstacles to mutual understanding between blacks and whites in the United States, making it more difficult to prevent the further expansion of racial hatred.

To solve the problem of racial hatred, empathy must be established among all races. Being able to look at things from other angles will enable people to eliminate racial prejudice and understand that they are equal people (Baker 23). The cultivation of empathy should be carried out at different social levels and follow the top-down method. Politicians should do their best to eliminate racial injustice and maintain an open and objective attitude towards racial discussion. The mass media should act as a mediator between blacks and whites, not a demagogue. Celebrities can also serve as role models for promoting harmony and friendship among different races.

In short, racial hatred has always been a deep-rooted problem in American society, which has become more and more serious in recent years. The political correctness once established on the issue of race has proved unsustainable, and it soon collapsed after several racial disputes across the country. The issue of racial hatred deserves the attention of policymakers before it further divides society. In order to prevent further polarization of the country, people should learn to emphasize others with an open mind with the help of politicians, mass media and celebrities. Racial integration can be achieved only when people put aside their differences and accept common ground.
