As nowadays people are becoming increasingly mobile and distributed, and people were traveling, telecommunicating from home, and working from remote brand offices, Cisco adopts an untraditional marketing campaign, employing solely digital media channel for its marketing communication. It is the first time a launch of this magnitude that take place completely online and not rely on any live physical event. The company also decided to promote the product over the very digital networks it was designed to enable.

Cisco’s target audiences are technical people who are web based customers in need of telecommunicating and technology needed for remote working. Based on its marketing campaign, Cisco uses a comprehensive set of Web 2.0 and social media tactics to reach their target audiences, including a microsite, videos, social media widget, facebook group, interactive 3-D game, a presence on the virtual world Second Life, a set of interactive tools for customers to know about the product, and a discussion forum. Those marketing activities has been proven to be virtually, virally, and visually, and very effective to the type of technical audiences.   

For my final project marketing plan, my team will first analyze our target customers for our chosen organization and then select the most useful social medias  for marketing communications in order to most effectively reach our target audience within your target segment. We will regard the case of Cisco for its new product launch as a great example when determining our marketing plan.
