And it is also the foundation of principle in  philosophy, society, and person hood. It also involved in the connection of the society and humanism. (Figley, 12) People usually regard the compassion as the love and concern. It is a sense of emotional in nature. Compassion is not the simple sympathy. compassion commonly means an positive desire to alleviate other’ s suffering and pain. Although we do not need to do this. It is often the key component in what manifests in the social context as altruism. (Figley, 21) In moral practice, the various golden rules indicate the principle of compassion. That is to say do to others what you would have them do to you.

The thesis of this article is that giving drug-addicted beggars money is not an act of compassion. In recent years, some people think that giving drug-addicted beggars is an act of compassion. In their opinion, one should have pity on the drug-addicted beggars in the financial aspect. So many people trend to give the money to the drug-addicted beggars to help them get rid of the poor condition. People who support giving drug-addicted beggars money has their own reasons.On the one hand, they believe that once they give the financial support to drug-addiction beggars, they can use the money to do other positive things. For example, after the drug-addiction beggars get the money, they could be active towards life and earn money by doing business. In this way, it will boost their earning ability and gain the independence. On the other hand, some drug-addicted beggars are kind in essence. If we give the financial support to them, they may be influenced by people’ s behavior. This influence certainly can make them to become the better citizens.

The drug-addicted Beggar is the people who are addicted to drugs. They can not control their behavior, they rely on the drug in spirit. They need large sum of  money to buy drugs to meet their own demands. There is a burning desire for the drugs in their mind. They can not suppress this desire for the drugs. Many drug-addicted beggars stop working after they are addicted in drugs. Their drug addiction will completely enslave them. They will find and buy the drugs at any cost. The drug is an expensive thing. Finally, they can only live by begging in the stress. We call these people the drug-addicted Beggar. (West & Robert & Jamie Brown, 24-25)

It is known to us all, The drug-addicted beggars will bring some harm. Firstly, they may do some things harm the society. Areas of drug dealing are hellholes of addiction, poverty and murder. When the drug-addicted people get involved in these things. The social order will be perturbed. It may harm innocent men. According the relevant research, 31 percents homeless adults are addicted to drugs. They can had control their behavior and thinking. (Potter, 56-62) So they may do some bad things, such as stealing, robbing and even murdering. Secondly, it will endanger the people’ s physical and mental health. The drug will lead to chronic stress, insomnia, depression, physiological disorders and even mental disorder. Once the drug get involved in person’s body, it will easily influence the person’s nervous system. It will make one generate a sense of desiring for the more drug, craving of drug addicts for drugs will make them find and buy the drug at all hazards. Thus they will do some extreme things, such as stealing, robbing, and murdering. They may easily turn to crime. That is to say, the drug will not only damage their health condition but also do harm to their metal health.

Giving drug-addicted beggars money will not solve this problem. Giving drug-addicted beggars money will bring some bad influences.

Firstly, we all know that most of the drug-addicted beggars can not control themselves. The sense of eager to drug will make them do some bad things. They need large sum of money to buy such expensive drugs. Once they get the money from other people without doing anything, they may not use the make to do some positive things, such as doing business and learning a practical skill and so on. As we can imagine, they may use the money to buy more drugs to meet their demands for drugs. Thus it will cause the vicious circle. (Fleisher, 158-159) In this point, the money can not be good used by those people. In this extent, giving drug-addicted beggars money is not an act of compassion. It will even prompt them to sink in to the drugs.

Secondly, it is the waste of money and resources. Money is limited. If drug-addicted beggars can not use the money properly, the money can not play a crucial role in encouraging them get rid of the drugs. Money can even make them worse and worse. At the same time, the drug itself will lead the environment deterioration. (Fleisher, 157-158) It is the waste of the nature resources. And once one starts taking drugs, they may give up the work. This will cause the great waste of labor force , the reducing of the productivity, impairment of the social development and so on.

Third, it will bring a bad fashion in the society. (Fleisher, 158-159) We live in a big group, once someone starts taking drugs, their behavior may surely influence their friends or colleagues. Thus more and more people will be addicted to the drugs. If they can easily get the money from other people or organizations. They may be lazy and do not want to earn the money by themselves. Because they think they can get the compassion from others and easily get the money. If things go on like this, they will regard people’ s compassion as grand without being grateful for others help. The general atmosphere in our society must be deteriorated.

Finally, it will do harm to drug-addicted beggars’ family. If one of the family members starts taking drugs. This turmoil will directly and negatively impact house hood wealth. The family will not only lost earnings but also lost a love family member at the same time. (Fleisher, 158-159) For example, if one is addicted in the drug, he may lose their savings, their homes and more. His wife will divorce him. His life will get great changes in the short time. It will do harm to both him and his family members.

As far as I am concerned, a real compassion society is that people are loving and compassionate and have a pity for other people’ s suffering and pain. The third biblical step towards restoring a relationship is to sympathize with the other parson’s feelings and suffering. It does not mean the charity, charity is that we give some things that we do not need to the poor people. But the compassion is that we give the form of dependence that makes independence possible and the resources to exercise their own rights. When people meet the drug-addicted beggars, they may be very sympathetic to the drug-addicted beggars’ cause in emotion. And they will help the drug-addicted beggars to get rid of the drug by proper ways such as persuading, giving them a good job, organizing the drug rehabilitation program and so on, instead of just giving the money to them.

Giving drug-addicted beggars money is not an act of compassion. So how to solve this social problem in order to set a compassion society? We should take these steps to help the drug-addicted beggars in the real compassion society.

Firstly, People should try to give job not money to the drug-addicted beggars. Money is something but not everything. The drug-addicted beggars may not control themselves, they are controlled by the drugs. So if people directly give the money to the drug-addicted beggars, they are possible to use the money to take drugs. They will rely more on the drug and be difficult getting rid of it. On the contrary, if people provide a proper job for the drug-addicted beggars, they may pay attention to the work rather than the drug. It is good for them to get rid of the drug and suppress the craving for the drugs. At the same, they can earn the money by themselves and will not be a drug-addicted beggar. To some extent, it is better to give them the opportunity to earn the money instead of the charity. As an old saying in China that “Give a man a fish and he ends for a day.” Only when they get the ability to earn money, they can real get rid of the drugs. People can give some job to the drug-addicted beggars, such as cleaning, property management, express age and so on. If people give the money to them, they will site down to wait the money without doing anything to change their life. So we’d better provide the job for the drug-addicted beggars instead of giving the money to the drug-addicted beggars directly.

Secondly, people should help them get rid of the drug by the right ways. People can tell the drug-addicted beggars to quit the drug and persuade the drug-addicted beggars to get rid of the drug in soul. People should list the harm of the drug to the drug-addicted beggars. People can encourage the drug-addicted beggars to attend the drug rehabilitation program and apologize for their wrong behavior. The drug-addicted beggars can not accomplish all the things by themselves, so the drug addiction treatment center is very important for drug addiction treatment centers. The government should expand the voluntary community-based drug treatment. This will allow more and more people participate the movement. (Humphreys, 151-158) People can also organize some program to an ambitious effort to cut drug use by limiting demand, reducing the drug supply, and helping the drug-addicted beggars get treatment.     

In conclusion, compassion is morally sympathetic to the suffering and the pain of other people. If all of us accepted individuality and accepted the  drug-addicted beggars, then all of others would have the sympathy sense for one another. Money is something but not everything. We should not only use the money to solve this social problem. On the contrary, we should give the true love and the help to the drug-addicted beggars. Giving drug-addicted beggars money is not an act of compassion. This will inevitably cause a lot of social problems.
