As one of the few ancient civilizations with a history of thousands of years, Chinese culture is deeply rooted in history, but it has undergone great changes in recent decades. Through Hofstede's six dimensions, we can better understand China's cultural values. This paper will be divided into three to six dimensions. Power and collectivism, masculinity and uncertainty, long-term positioning and restraint are the most significant characteristics of Chinese cultural values.

China has been ruled by dozens of emperors in all dynasties, and the social hierarchy has been deeply imprinted in Chinese culture. Although the concept of democracy has been introduced into this country in the modern world, its practice is quite cautious. When a leading Party is in power, China is one of the cultures with a high power distance index. Members of Chinese society recognize and accept power inequality at different levels: including school, family and workplace. Therefore, the Chinese also pay more attention to collectivism than individualism, because the former is consistent with social hierarchy and high power distance. In Chinese culture, people don't like to stand out from the crowd, and collective activities are more likely to bring a sense of security.

In Chinese values, when it comes to masculinity and femininity, the former is certainly more valued than the latter. Compared with the humanized methods adopted by some developed countries in the working environment, Chinese people usually need to work harder and longer hours to compete with others. Although Confucianism and its definition of women subordinate to men have had a far-reaching impact in China, the situation in different parts of China is completely different. In developed urban areas, women enjoy almost the same social status as men, although their wages are often lower than men. In rural and underdeveloped areas, women's main responsibilities remain housework and childbearing. Due to the high degree of masculinity, the Chinese are not good at being too cautious and meticulous to avoid risk and uncertainty.

Finally, the Chinese rank first in the long-term positioning category. On the whole, the Chinese are pragmatic, modest and frugal. Most Chinese people are not religious, which reflects this result again. When it comes to indulgence and restraint, different regions have different characteristics. In some cities in China, such as Chengdu, leisure is an important element of life, even more important than work. In other places, such as big cities, the degree of indulgence caused by professional ethics is much lower. Generally speaking, China is still a society with stricter social norms, although the situation is changing rapidly with the increase of the influence of the younger generation.

In short, it is perfectly normal for China to attach importance to power and social hierarchy and accept social inequality. In China, high masculinity naturally leads to low uncertainty avoidance. Chinese culture also attaches importance to utilitarianism and pragmatism, while religion and indulgence are less important. Hofstede's cultural dimension analysis provides a clearer picture for Chinese cultural values.
