Money A Symbol of Power

2021-07-12 来源: 51Due教员组 类别: Essay范文

At the beginning of the 20th century, North Korea became a colony of Japan, which lasted for several decades until 1945. During the colonial period, the Japanese government tried to control the Korean people with a large population through the policy of force or appeasement. Despite Japan's desire to ensure their dominance through tight control over land and banks, the result has not been as expected. At the same time, due to the lack of funds to represent economic independence, South Korea has little power to rely on Japan alone. From this point of view, money is a symbol of power.

In order to clarify this point of view, it is necessary to make a comparison between the book of rat, which was first published in Meng Ye Yun Dong in 1926, and Yi Sheng's wing. Both of these two literary works touch on the issue of money, but the protagonists' roles and ways of dealing with money are completely different, which provides a unique perspective for analyzing their characters. In this process, money plays an important role as a medium.

In the text wings, the protagonist's inner monologue occupies a considerable coverage. Hero, that is to say, husband is lazy to do any work to make a living. This guy is not doing a good job. He idles around all day, either indulging in his wife's wishful thinking about how to get money, or playing boring games in his wife's room. The hero doesn't care about his appearance or what he eats. In order to support the family, from the description of the text, the wife engaged in an inappropriate occupation, may be a prostitute. Every time the guests leave, the wife always gives her husband some coins as compensation. But the protagonist pays little attention to coins, either throwing them into the toilet or putting money in at will. This shows that his social status in the family is not as good as his wife, because his wife has the right to control money. This can be proved in one sentence: "at the simplest level, the image of rule is based on a clear contrast between the clean, hardworking, up-to-date Japanese and the dirty, lazy, backward Korean."

In the story of the mouse, however, the situation is quite different. Despite the danger of his life, the protagonist father mouse tries every means to make a living. In a sense, father mouse is a great father full of adventure spirit. Once found the role of money, the mouse father stole "they don't use" (Yi, 3) to buy everything his family needs. In the eyes of the mouse father, money is a symbol of power, as he said to the children, "if you want to survive in this world, in the final analysis: you can't live without power."( Yi, 5) but father mouse is not a greedy creature like Kim. To be sure, father mouse sympathized with sudo's family because they had no food to feed his children. It can be said that father mouse is Robin Hood in the animal kingdom. He robs from the rich and then gives it to the poor.

At the end of wings, the hero is eager to grow wings and fly freely in the sky like a bird. Therefore, in a sense, birds flying in the air is a manifestation of power (in the story of the mouse, the meaning of power is further expanded, giving people a shadow of the socialist line, that is, a strong sense of justice, and an able person should be willing to help the weak. Both of these two texts have the charm of fables, which indirectly imply the miserable economic situation of the Korean people under Japanese oppression. But the two texts give readers completely different feelings: the keynote of wings is unhappy and depressed, and there is only a glimmer of hope in the end, while the theme of mouse is to encourage people to seek the spirit of power from a life full of optimism and hope. It can be concluded that what you get from the rich should be used for the benefit of the poor.
