Case Study Analysis of Toyota

The automobile industry is one of the largest and most important industries in the world, whose development status can reflect the national strength and competitiveness of not only a company but also a country. There are influential automobile brands in Europe, America as well as Japan. In recent years, the pattern of world automobile manufacturing is developing towards multipolarity. This has brought important influences for many automobile companies including Toyota, Japan. Following this tendency, this paper is focused on Toyota, aiming to identify the challenge for the company. An analysis of its adopted strategies and possible suggestions will be given as well.

 

People are impressed with Toyota Way. This business philosophy has achieved great success in the past a few years, which can be interpreted as “improve processes and products” “build trust” and “empower individuals and teams”. In face of multipolarity development in automobile industry, how to build a long-term vision especially in environment and meet challenges with courage and creativity have become a major concern for Toyota.

 

Toyota has been committed to its long-term development with effective strategies as a matter of fact. In terms of environmental vision, Toyota has set a pretty good example for many other companies in this industry. The USA Foundation project is created by Toyota, which makes Toyota a leading corporate citizen by endowing $10 million. The project gives support for different programs in environment, education and safety, winning honored reputation for Toyota. Besides, a five-year Environmental Action Plan has been conducted to make its environmental vision practical. This has addressed the importance of the balance between man, nature and machine.

 

As far as Toyota is concerned, it is important to take use of partnerships to improve consciousness of its technologies and products. Currently, the sustainability of environment is a common concern for people and organizations in different countries. It is acknowledged that automobile industry and products can have a significant influence on environment. However, all public are responsible to improve environment. With growing environmental concerns from the public, green vehicles are extremely popular among consumers. Being aware of the situation, Toyota has launched many cooperative programs with organizations including World Wildlife Fund, Lung Association, Electric Drive Transportation Association Environmental Media Association and the National Parks. Instead of traditional advertising campaigns, the new programs generally have more satisfying influenced on the targeted audience.

 

As a worldwide influential automobile company, Toyota is admired and recognized by the public with excellent product quality, brand popularity and more importantly, its environmental vision. Nowadays, a significant number of people especially the young generation have intense concerns about the environmental effects brought by automobiles. Another brand Tesla has been devoted to this area as well. It is suggested Toyota should combine more technological devices with creative ideas to meet the demand of potential young consumers for Eco-friendly automobiles.
