In order to complete this assignment, I go to a very famous YA section of bookshop named Poplar Kid's Republic. This is a YA book bookstore, located in our city and with automobiles speed in an endless stream along the boulevard. The hotel is set on two floors. The first floor is an interesting floor plan as a reading room, which make people suspect that they have arrived in a fairyland. Poplar Kid's Republic is a perfect book world with colorful fairy tales. When I am reading a charming book in the seat, I feel myself is falling into a clean dreamy fairy tale full of color the world of poetry and book. The impression to me is that a tree is to break down all the elements and distinguished to inlay in each side in the first floor. It is tree world include trunk, branches, bark, and leaves. After the processing of both the material sense and the abstract of the material, the bookstore used these materials as smallpox, walls, stairs and furniture which is reconstructed in space. The bookstore is based on picture books which full of content and can give children the influence of beautiful. As we all know, no matter any type drawing style draws up draws originally can have the unexpected artistic effect and it can make a big influence with young adult and children. In order to make more children enjoy the joy of reading, the bookstore opened a large number of creative children picture in the shelves for children of different ages. The picture book is famous children book with a long history which holds together the efforts of generations of artists’ works of art. Moreover, it has become an essential language and a bridge for the whole family (Lindsey, 2015).The second floor is a space of young adult and other people and it can be said to be an illusion of reality. All of the space that encourages buyers to sit and read because cozy and friendly atmosphere with comfortable sofas and tables especially designed for reading and relaxation. When I arrived at this bookstore I can’t find a seat to sit. But I found that every young adult and child can sit down at everywhere especially the ground because everyone can fro over and sit in the soft carpet.
2.0 Reflections
In modern society, reading is not only a kind of learning ability but also a kind of survival ability. The conclusion of the research showed that the reading rate is 82.7% under the age of 17 years old. The reading rate of books in different age between the young adult groups was promoted (Joan, 2007). Teenagers are a reading group that can’t be ignored. However, all kinds of popular culture influence the reading of teenagers at present. Most of them focus on fashion and pursuit fashion. They want to show different characteristics of their reading habits. The cartoon novels and the magic novels occupy the dominant position in the reading of the young people. With the rapid development of information network, more and more young people are used to read for the Internet media. Teenagers are in a period of mental development with a strong curiosity and the ability to self-control is very poor (Judith, 2015). Therefore, young people are extremely vulnerable to adverse factors. Reading has greatly influence the formation of the world outlook, values and outlook on life to the young people and children. These books cater to the lowest tastes and without any good profit. The spirit of the bookstore Poplar Kid's Republic is "happiness, habits, intelligence" and it has special rates for the under 18s. Consumers who are young people are increasingly interested in the special tastes for the book and many young consumers are accustomed to hunting out bargains. Therefore, this bookstore knows to depend crucially on how consumers respond. According to the research, young consumer spending on book items amounted to $9.75 billion (Atlantic, 2015). To sum up, young people as consumer is a special consumer group and they need a special way to read the book. Innocent is their natural ability. The bookstore must make use of their natural ability to empathize. The desire for freedom is inherent in us all and then we should give children and young people a freedom environment and thought to make them reading. In recent years, many libraries and bookstore carry out a large number of lively and vivid classic reading activities in their space. These activities were favored by young readers and greatly inspired the majority of young readers of the reading interest.
3.0 Connections
I think that The Chocolate War and Autumn Street are very good books for young people to expend their vision and for thinking. In the course of reading, I often find a wonderful person even though he is not the protagonist. Therefore, I think that a good book is not need a good environment to read it. Autumn Street is a good book showed that it is very important for us to have family and good friend. We should respect them even though Elizabeth had many bad things for her life (Lois, 1980). Now, I have reread the book many times and this book teaches me a lot of things. As other people said that it is a miserable story and maybe make some young people feeling terrible. But it can’t not arrest it is a good book. The ending really is a hideously violent surprise and many people didn’t want to read it again. It can tell us the truth that we can give the young adult a very freedom environment to read but parents should read this book before give their children to read this book and guide their children some good suggestions in order to give the children emotionally ready. When Elizabeth lost her way in the forest, I thought myself was there, too. In this book, there are many detail things make me feel I am just the role in this book. I am Elizabeth. I admire with Lowry greatly because she has such a great way of writing. But it make young people feel fearsome and maybe make some children have shadow in their heart especially children under 10 years old. So we encourage children or young people to depend their ability or desire to learn something and we should give their freedom environment and give their correct way to read books.
4.0 Conclusion
According to this assignment, I know that there are many ways to improve the reading interest to the children and young adult, such as the freedom environment and freedom thought and so on. I know that it is gives us good educational value to them. The parents also should guide their children some correct suggestion in order to make the children having a better reading.
