In fact since the beginning of 1980s, some of the farmers began to work in factories, mines and enterprises or go into business in cities and towns. Rural Migrant Workers came into being and put to use by people (Gongcheng Zheng, 2002). Though Rural Migrant Workers have made great contributions on the development of China, they also suffer many social problems and difficulties. All of these problems and difficulties finally changed into many social contradictions and also caused attention from all walks of life. This paper will put it’s emphasize on the social problems and difficulties from ‘Empty Nester’, ‘Left Behind Children’. Low paid or unpaid, long working time and other rights and interests’ protection. Transport during the Spring Festival Exodus.
Empty Nester 空巢老人
In recent yeas, with the development of economic, more and more rural labor force has opted for migrant workers, a large number of the old were left at home, this causes the one special group in countryside – ‘Empty Nester’. Some of the ‘Empty Nester’ lives who do not have children have to live under poor living conditions. Besides that, they have to look after their life by themselves, a number of them also live under the force of life. They have to earn money to buy daily using items. A terrible thing to them is become ill, when they are ill, they have to go far to see a doctor and the high medical fees makes their life worse. The other ‘Empty Nester’ is they have children, but they go out for making money, work in cities as the migrant workers, some of their children will also leave their children to them. Looking after the little children will also makes the life burden of the ‘Empty Nester’ much heavier. Since the old suffers illness more much. They shall also look after their grandson/grand-daughter, all of these will make their life in danger (Wenjun Gong, 2007).
Left Behind Children 留守儿童
Since the young migrant workers need to work in cities, the working time, living condition all do not permit them looking their children by themselves. They have to leave their children to their parents or relatives. Then another special group appears in countryside--‘Left Behind Children’. Since the children of the migrant workers have to live with their grandparents or relatives. Thus the ‘Left Behind Children’ have to face the fact of growing without the love of their parents. Meanwhile the grandparents dote on the children, that will also helps them develop some bad habits (Lihua Xu, 2005). Since the ‘Left Behind Children’ is grow up under the under the stage of accepting education, and the school education condition in rural area is not as good as urban areas. The poor teaching facilities, teacher strength is weak, and the qualified teachers may also lacks. Most schools have neither courses in special psychology nor in psychological. This unqualified education will affected the growing of the ‘Left Behind Children’. Some of the school education deficiency will also exacerbate the seriousness of the problem the ‘Left Behind Children’. Moreover, there also has some hidden danger in daily life. Low self protection consciousness and their grandparents’ are the frail elderly, thus the safety status of the ‘Left Behind Children’ is exists a lot problem.

With the expansion of China’s reform and market economy, the labor flow speed between urban and rural accelerateing, the original recessive unemployment rural labor force flocked into urban areas. In face of the unexpected migrant workers’ coming, the government do not has the corresponding countermeasure and the legislation lags behind, the employment system is not standardized, the migrant workers' legal awareness is not strong, lack safeguarding rights ability, some of the of employment units pay low, suspend the migrant workers wages becomes serious and widespread (Zhaofeng Luo, 2008).
As we all know, it has been 30 years since China’s Reform and Opening Up, China gains develops very fast, in one side, the migrant workers have made great for the developing of the cities, one the other side, they are not treated equally, such as children education, Health Care, Working Safety, Labor Remuneration, and Social Status. But whatever the result, one thing all of us can not deny, that is the migrant workers have make big effect on China’s develop and this effect will become more and more important, and the rights and interests of the migrant workers can never ignored (Anhua Tan , 2006).

Since the migrant workers’ embarrassing situation, they work for low social status, low income, and poor living conditions, they have to endure the pain of husbands and wives separation, the separated families, suffering unable to pension filial and cannot raising their children by themselves. Since the tradition of China, each family will have a family reunion during Chinese Festival. One reason of most of the migrant workers will go back home this period is for the family reunion, the other is they will take back that year’s income to support the family’s running. But for the big number of the migrant workers in urban areas and the students also back home, so even when they finish the whole year’s hard work, return home and have a family reunion, they will also have to endure a transport during the Spring Festival exodus, stand long lines to buy tickets and bear the long tiring travel. After a short reunion with the family, they shall go through this process again (Zhongxi Qi, 2011). Since the number of migrant workers is still growing, even though the government and the relative departments have taken some corresponding measures, it seems the effect is not obvious.

It’s no doubt that the migrants workers flows to the urban areas is an irresistible trend and inevitable. A period of the future, the migrants workers will still be the important of the main force of city industries and social lives in urban areas. Thus the problems caused by the migrant workers have caught high attention of all walks of life. The government of People’s Republic of China has taken a series of policies to develop the economic of rural areas to improve the peasants’ income level. So that to decrease a number of the ‘Empty Nester’ and the ‘Left Behind Children’ to some extent (Qiang Li, Zhuang Tang, 2002). On the other side, the government is faster the step of improving the protection of the migrant workers rights and interest in urban areas. The government is trying to strengthen labor law enforcement, clarify oversight responsibilities and rights of the supervision subject, establishment the special protection systems for migrant workers.
Meanwhile the community shall assist in the establishment of migrant workers union, enhance their social status and labor fair competition. Migrant workers unions can communicate with the community and the street in stead of the migrant workers to express their reasonable interest and demand, to participate in community activities, community services, to increase the interaction with the public, let the public understand them and accept them.
