Clothes are the concept closely connected with people’s daily life. They are not only the cultural representation but also the ideaisticimage. Through a person’s clothes, we can obtain abundant individual information. Thus the purpose of this essay is to analyze howclothes tell certain things about a person mainly from three aspects.
Clothing color could tell people’s personality. Color has unspeakable charm in clothing appearance. It can show clothing texture. Andmeanwhile it more reflects a person’s personality and demeanour. Specifically, people choosing black clothes would leave a mysteriousand professional impression on others. Most of them are not good at social communication and simply use black to conceal their innerfear and anxiety. Then people choosing blue clothes would relatively like tranquility and be light of heart. They are good at controllingtheir emotions and very responsible. But they may be very stubborn so that they would be lack of magnanimity to adopt others’ opinions.People choosing yellow clothes often have their own unique opinions and ideas. They are full of high degree of creativity and curiosity.Besides, they prefer to pursue stimulus and freshness.
Clothing style could be the stage to express people’s inner thoughts. To be specific, people with gorgeous clothes own strong sense ofseeking the limelight. Meanwhile their desire towards money is also intense. Then people with simple clothes generally are lack of certainconfidence. Those people may be very pure, but they may be very insidious. They often deal with things in a planned way and focusmuch on reality. As for people with fashionable clothes, they often have a kind of aloneness. Their emotion fluctuates frequently. It canbe said that in most cases they pay no attention to what they really like and just keep up with fashion. Thus it shows that they don’thave their own ideas and thoughts most of the time.
Clothes could be a kind of symbol towards people’s identity. Especially in China, the ancient costume system is one of the important regimes of sovereign administration. For example, dragon robes are the emperors’ clothes and helmets and armours are mainly soldiers’ costume. Nowadays, people wearing business suit are often employees working at formal occasions such as enterprises and government agencies. As for evening dress, it belongs to fancy suit. To some degree, people wearing it show their superior level of social identity. Just as its name implies, military uniform belongs to soldiers’ clothes.
All in all, clothes are a kind of silent object language which reveal a person’s abundant individual information including hobbies, personality, inner thoughts and identity etc. As a result, it is necessary to conduct detailed investigation on the relationship between clothes and people.
