Commodity export attention

在国际贸易中，有2个方面的问题，但很容易被交易者忽略。第一个是合同中的包装条款。关于包装的具体条款已在合同中明确。然而，由于缺乏包装材料或包装成本高，出口商改变包装材料，无视包装条款；这将导致大量的问题。例如，由于不同的包装材料商品将受到破损。进口商将遭受这种行为带来的损害，并要求出口商赔偿损失，因为这种出口方式违反了合同。

There are two aspects which sound obvious in international trading but are easily omitted by both traders. The first one is the packing terms in the contract. Concrete terms about packing have been clarified in the contract and the bill of lading. However, because of the lack of packing materials or the high packing costs, the exporters change the packing material, regardless of the packing terms. This will cause a great number of problems. For instance, commodities will break due to the different packing materials. The importers will suffer from damages brought by this behavior and ask the exporter for compensations for their lost since the exports violate the contract. 

The second aspect is filling the shipping documents. The most important is that every detail that traders fill in different documents should be identical. Sometimes traders are so careless that they write different in various sheets. For example, in the transferee of bill of lading, the importers write “xxx Company”, but in the same blank of letter of credit, the importers write “xxx Corporation”. This will lead to a discrepancy between B/L and L/C. Because of that, the importers could not get their products and have to pay another fee to correct the L/C. At the same time, the exporters cannot get their money due to the discrepancy. Also, this will prolong the period of storing products in the warehouse, which will add more unexpected risks to the commodity.
