The Story of the Ice and the Fire

这是一个关于冰和火的短篇故事。本文通过故事的手法折射新的问题，令人深思。“从这个简短的故事，我们可以看到，冰和火是有争议的，他们是一件事的极端。就像那些有特殊性格的人都无法相处得很好。例如，世界上有2种人。有一种人做不到的事情，另一种人总是很快完成任务。如果这2种人聚在一起做某事，他们可能不会相处得很好。更甚者，他们之间的冲突会影响他们的工作和日常生活。”

This is a short story about the ice and the fire. Now, I will introduce the content of the  short story. I believe we must learn a lot from this short story. 
In a cold winter, the ice came across the fire. He is too cold to say a word. Once he saw the fire, he was well happy and he wanted to persuade the fire living with him. He walked towards the fire and he slowly got the warm from the fire. He gave his requirement for the fire and he explained that it was continent and economical for both he and the fire to live with each other. He explains that he can give the cold to the fire and the fire will make him warm in the cold winter. He was sure that the fire would support his point of view. What was amazing for the ice was that the fire respectfully declined the invitation. The fire said that: “ maybe what you said is truth, but I can not do it, because I will melt you and you will extinguish me. It is not good for us to do that.” However, the ice insisted getting together with the fire. So the fire received the ice’s invitation because he did not want to offend the ice. 
Time goes by, the temperature gradually increased, it was warmer and warmer. The fire gradually made the ice melt. The ice regretted doing such stupid thing. But it was late to change the direction of the things. The volume of the ice had became smaller and smaller. 
      At the end of the story, all of the body of the ice became the water and the water extinguished the fire. Both of them disappeared from the World. They destroyed each other 
From this short story, we can see that the ice and the fire has the controversial quality. They are the two extremes of one thing. Just like the ice and the fire, people who have special character can not get along well with each other. For example, there are two kinds of people in the world. One kind of people are slow to do something, another kind of people always finish the task quickly. If these two kinds of people get together to do something, they may not get along very with each other. What’s more, the conflict between them will influence their work and their daily life. They have the different characters to do something. 
The purpose of the story is easy to understand. The altitude of the fire towards the ice tells us the fire has the clear mind towards the things. He has the brave to refuse others. It makes people realize that different people have different character, we may not get along well with the people who are different from us. For example, we often sacrifice our own profit to cater to other people. We are afraid to offend other people. So we often do some things which are not fit with our real thinking. 
So I want to use this story to advocate people to do things after our own heart. We should not always accommodate ourselves to other people. Life is limited, we should consider our own advantages when we have to do something. And once we have the different mind from other people, we should be brave to tell our most real thoughts. We should have the bravery to refuse something which will damage our own interests. 
      So the purpose of this story is to tell us the principle and teach us how to do in the practical experiences in the life. 
In my short story, the symbol in the story also obvious. The ice represents the people who just do something that do not think over the result of the acting. There are many people just like the ice in our society. For example, people who want someone to give the help for them when they are in trouble. However, they do not think over other people’s position. These people are often selfish and self-centered. The fire on behalf of people who are brave to tell the truth. They will take their own interest in to consideration. For example, we will refuse to make friends with certain people, because we do not want to waste our time to yield to others. Maybe we will lose a lot in this way. So we have to refuse others’ demand. 
The conflict of the story is between the ice and the fire. It is obvious that the ice and the fire has the different quality. If they live in a same place, they may hurt each other. But the ice can not see this principle, he just saw the temporary advantage of the things. As for his stupid behavior, he sacrificed the fire and himself. 
     When the ice came up the terrible ideal, the fire realized the disadvantage of the things. He has the bravery to refuse the ice. This is another conflict between the ice and the fire. But the fire was afraid to offend the ice, so he received the invitation of the ice. He did the things which is not coordinated with his deeply mind. There is the conflict in the fire’s heart, he did not want to do such thing, but he is forced to do it. In the modern society, there are many people who are often relevant to do something. This will surely damage their interests. 
As for the principle of this story, there is also the conflict in the topic. From this short story, someone may think people should refuse the helpless invitation and try to take away from other people, others believe that people should try to get along well with all the people. There two different opinion cause the conflict. Different people have the different opinion towards the same question. To some extent, the conflict of the topic is inevitable. 
     In my point of view, people should keep the distance with people who have the tendency to hurt my own profit. This behavior does not show the selfishness of the human. On the contrary, the life is limited, if we always sacrifice their own interests to meet others’ demands. The life will lose the real meaning. And if people suffer a lot for this reason, they will be anxious and upset. This kind of bad emotion will have the bad influence on their daily life. So why not tell the truth with other people when we have to refuse others. 
Indeed, we should provide help for other people. However, everyone has his/her own principle. If it does not damage our own profits, we should help others. On the contrary, if others’ demand has the tendency to hurt our principle, we should make decision to insist our own point of the view. 
    In conclusion, when we find that we can not get along well with the others. We’d better think over the relative reason. On the one side, if the people can not damage our own interests, we should adjust our behavior and try to accept others. On the other hand, if others’ acting will hurt our own profit, we should keep the distance with such person. It will not only protect our own profit, but also keep the proper distance with such person. In addition, we should refuse others’ invitation politely. Everyone has their own temperament and character. We should keep the appropriate distance with others and tell the truth. Only in this way, can we be in harmony with other people. This story is short, but it contains significant reasons.I advocate people learn from the story and take the principle in our own life.
