Leaving your electrical appliance on when you leave for work can be very annoying, it not only wastes electricity but also raise the potentiality of accidents such as fire alarm and even explosives. Remote alert signal, therefore, has become significant in solving this problem; and cellphones, as people’s most frequently carried electronic tool, can shoulder the responsibility of receiving alert signals from the appliances and remote control them to shut down. Such technique would decrease the accident rate to a very low level, as well as saving electricity for the future needs, and is therefore promising in the near future. The current studies of this field are presented in the following literatures.
I.M.M.El Emary (2014) addressed the main challenges of deploying the wireless sensors in our daily life and pointed out how it can assist in community development. The book also covers the latest advances in the field of wireless sensor networks, providing the functioning evidence of the theory and how it should be applied, offering successful possibilities to this technique.
I.Frigyes et al. (2008) described some of the preconditions of the technique should it be put into further use. It borrowed experiences from all former wireless connections or sensors technologies to prove the practicability of remote signal control, including wireless communication, physical layer, access methods, techniques and technologies, networks and systems. The book mentioned that the current development of wireless equipment has proved successful, that if we could do deeper researches, the solution will not be a big problem in the future.
V.C.Gungor (2013) describes the application of WSN technologies in the field of industry specifically. It introduces the software, hardware platforms and protocols that can make the technique effective. The book mainly aims to realize the industrial automation so as to reach the new wave of industrialization. This direction is slightly too much for the remote switching signal we discuss here, but still it is worth studying, especially the part that argues on the future difficulties of IWSN.
S.K.Mazumder (2011) paid more attention to the work of “control” itself, combining the control theory and wireless sensor and discussing how these two techniques can work together. The cellphone is now able to use its signals to control objects within close distance, which is a promising application of its signal. In the near future, if the signal control can be further developed, it should be able to make commands in long distance and benefit users in a wide range.
B.Wang et al. (2010) talked about a sensor network that can link the sensors and their signals together on a mutual working platform. This idea is very similar to communication theories—building up more connections to shorten the communication distance. The same applies to sensor network which can accelerate the signal speed to a large extent. Then a coverage control system can be built up to solve the problem we have discussed.
Finally, Ian.F.Akyildiz (2010) concludes the recent progress of wireless sensors networks, pointing out the future way of the application of this technology. It told us the features of this system and its management, providing another theoretical foundation of our remote signal controls.
In conclusion, the supposition of remote alert signal control with cellphones is an applicable option in the future—the tool it uses, cellphone, has already been connected to the wireless signal networks; the appliances can receive the signal by installing some kind of software or hard ware within, and thanks to the coverage control network, it can hear signals from a long distance. The whole technique is promising and will contribute greatly to energy saving.
